We are seeking an experienced K2 Application Developer to conduct an in-depth analysis of an existing K2 application, including reviewing current workflows, understanding application functionality, and mapping the underlying SQL database tables and relationships.
The primary objective is to develop comprehensive technical and functional documentation that provides clear visibility into how the application operates, particularly in the absence of existing business process maps. The documentation and associated artefacts will enable the project team to validate application functionality, understand end-to-end business processes, and develop accurate business process maps.
Key Responsibilities
Perform an in-depth analysis of the existing K2 application, including its architecture, configuration, and functionality.
Review and document existing K2 workflows, workflow rules, business logic, approval processes, and exception-handling mechanisms.
Map underlying SQL database tables, relationships, dependencies, and data flows supporting the application.
Analyse how K2 workflows interact with SQL databases, stored procedures, views, and other integrated systems.
Document end-to-end workflows, business rules, process steps, decision points, roles, and approval hierarchies.
Reverse-engineer existing business processes where formal process documentation is unavailable.
Develop comprehensive functional and technical documentation, including workflow diagrams, SQL data mappings, process narratives, and application dependency maps.
Identify gaps, inconsistencies, undocumented functionality, and potential risks within the existing application.
Work closely with business stakeholders, application owners, developers, and project team members to validate findings and confirm process accuracy.
Produce clear, structured documentation and artefacts that support application validation, knowledge transfer, and business process mapping.
Work independently to drive the analysis from discovery through documentation and stakeholder validation.
Required Skills and Experience
Strong hands-on experience with the K2 workflow platform, including workflow analysis, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Proven experience analysing existing enterprise applications and reverse-engineering undocumented workflows.
Strong SQL skills, including the ability to analyse database schemas, tables, relationships, views, stored procedures, and queries.
Experience mapping workflow activities to underlying database structures and understanding end-to-end data flows.
Ability to translate technical findings into clear functional documentation and business process diagrams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and deliver high-quality documentation with minimal supervision.
Key Deliverables
Comprehensive documentation of existing K2 workflows and application functionality.
Workflow-to-SQL table mapping and database relationship documentation.
End-to-end workflow diagrams and business process narratives.
Documentation of business rules, decision points, approvals, integrations, and exceptions.
Application dependency maps and supporting technical artefacts.
Identified gaps, assumptions, risks, and recommendations.
Validated documentation pack to support the development of formal business process maps and future project activities.
Desired Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on K2 specialist with strong SQL analysis capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to independently investigate complex applications. They should be comfortable working with limited existing documentation, uncovering undocumented business logic, and converting their findings into comprehensive, accurate, and usable project artefacts.
Primary focus: K2 workflow analysis, SQL database mapping, reverse engineering, and comprehensive functional and technical documentation.
